PRONOVIAS PRESENTS "THE SPANISH BRIDES' PERFECT WEDDING GOWN"
Model Teresa Baca modelled the Spanish brides' favourite, a flared white lace gown with a train, a straight, strapless neckline and a silk tulle veil.
Manuel Mota and model Teresa Baca have unveiled the results of a study conducted by Pronovias, the world's leading bridal firm. Pronovias: The Spanish brides' ideal wedding gown is a study carried out by the brand to discover the tastes of Spanish brides.
Now more than ever, trends are born in the street. People's way of dressing and adapting fashion to their own personal styles is a source of inspiration to the world's great creators. Pronovias, always at the forefront of fashion, has tapped into this trend and has gathered the opinions of 5,145 Spanish brides through its web site, www.pronovias.es/tuvestidoideal to design their ideal wedding gown. The firm created an innovative application to allow visitors to design the gown of their dreams using a combination of silhouettes, necklines, fabrics and accessories.
As Manuel Mota explained, "I believe this report is very important because I greatly value brides' opinions and their preferences when it comes to choosing a gown. This gown is the reinterpretation of the results of Spanish brides' ideal gown".
Pronovias Study: The Spanish brides' ideal wedding gown was created on the basis of the participation of 5,145 brides from all over Spain. The results were obtained between 18 May and 5 June 2009, and the report examines the results of four variables:
- Autonomous Region
- Age (from 18 to 20; from 21 to 30; from 31 to 40; over 40)
- Type of ceremony (religious or civil)
- Wedding time (morning or evening)
The Spanish brides' ideal bridal gown is flared with a train (34%), a straight, strapless neckline (22%), in white lace (39%), without decoration (83%) and worn with a silk tulle veil (27%).
Teresa Baca, who modelled the Spanish brides' favourite dress, said "I am delighted to model this dress. It is beautiful and feels very comfortable" and added with a grin "I'm not planning to get married at the moment, but after seeing myself in this gown the prospect seems much more attractive!".
The results by autonomous region show that the choice of a flared silhouette is almost unanimous, and the strapless neckline is the most popular in most regions, although with differences in fabrics, accessories and decorations.
All the brides in Castile-La Mancha, Castile and Leon and the Madrid Region chose exactly the same dress as the ideal wedding gown for Spanish brides.
The great majority chose a traditional veil, from the most traditional with the mantilla to the new, contemporary silk tulle to replace more traditional tulle.
Surprisingly, the strapless neckline is the undisputed winner, given that until a few years ago brides always chose to cover their shoulders.
With regard to age, brides between the ages of 20 and 30 and 30 and 40 chose the same style, which is the one that received the most votes. The variations came in the 18 to 20 year band, with younger brides choosing strapless necklines and romantic skirts with frills, whereas brides over 40 years of age preferred the Empire line with long sleeves, without a veil or head dress.
Preferences according to whether they are marrying in church or in a civil ceremony: The dress is the same whichever type of wedding they choose. The only difference is that for a church wedding they prefer a veil and for a civil ceremony they prefer to wear a head dress.
Finally, it makes no difference whether the wedding is to take place in the morning or the evening: The favourite gown is the perfect gown for Spanish brides.
